Publications and Editorial Work
Maria has published widely in the area of Spanish theatre and film, transnational performance and European theatre and is currently working on a project on cultural memory in Spain and Argentina. Her books include Federico García Lorca (Routledge 2008) and ‘Other’ Spanish Theatres (MUP, 2003; substantially revised and extended Spanish-language edition published by Iberoamericana Vervuert, 2017) and twelve co-edited volumes including Contemporary European Directors (Routledge, 2010) and A History of the Theatre in Spain (Cambridge University Press, 2012). She is co-editor of the Routledge journal, Contemporary Theatre Review, a contributing editor to as European Stages, and a member of the advisory board of three Spanish journals, Don Galán, published by the Centro de Documentación Teatral of Spain’s Ministry of Culture and Education, Episkenion, published by the University of Valencia, and Littera Aperta, published by the Universidad de Córdoba. She also co-edits the Manchester University Press series, Theatre: Theory, Practice, Performance and the Cambridge University Press series, Cambridge Studies in Modern Theatre.
